Mogadishu, Somalia – June 4, 2025 – Dr. Abdullahi Khalif, Somalia’s National Facilitator for the country’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC), delivered a key presentation during the ongoing National Conference on Environment and Climate Change taking place in Mogadishu.
In his remarks, Dr. Khalif presented the progress made in developing NDC 3.0 – Somalia’s updated climate action plan aimed at enhancing the country’s efforts in tackling climate change and minimizing its impacts, as part of its obligations under the Paris Agreement.
Dr. Khalif emphasized Somalia’s strong commitment to implementing climate goals through an evidence-based, data-driven, and nationally integrated approach. He noted that the preparation of NDC 3.0 has involved meaningful participation from government institutions, civil society, and especially young people, who play a critical role in raising awareness and implementing effective climate adaptation and mitigation actions.
“National collaboration and unity are the keys to the success of the new NDC 3.0,” said Dr. Abdullahi. He also underscored the urgent need for technical, financial, and political support to ensure Somalia’s full participation in global climate efforts.
