The January–June 2026 Review presents six months of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change’s work to advance environmental protection, climate resilience, and sustainable development across Somalia. It captures the Ministry’s efforts to strengthen national institutions, deepen partnerships, and translate climate commitments into practical action that benefits communities across the country.

Throughout the first half of 2026, the Ministry led major national initiatives, expanded international cooperation, and advanced key environmental and climate priorities through policy development, technical consultations, public awareness campaigns, and high-level engagement. From restoring ecosystems through nationwide tree planting to strengthening climate finance, biodiversity conservation, and environmental governance, the review reflects a period of significant progress and growing momentum.

The publication also highlights Somalia’s active participation in regional and global climate forums, demonstrating the country’s commitment to international cooperation and climate leadership. Alongside these engagements, the Ministry continued to promote inclusive participation by working closely with Federal Member States, development partners, academia, civil society, youth, women, and local communities to build a more resilient and sustainable future.
