Federal Member States Strengthen Environmental and Climate change Cooperation at Ministerial Forum

A ministerial-level meeting of the Coordination, Consultation, and Cooperation Forum between the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MOECC) of the Federal Government of Somalia and the Environment Ministries of the Federal Member States was held today in Mogadishu.
The meeting was chaired by the State Minister of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Ahmed Omar. It was attended by the Environment Ministers of Galmudug, Hirshabelle, Southwest, and North East.
During the meeting, the ministers reviewed the outcomes and key resolutions from the meeting of the Directors General held on 7 February 2026. The technical recommendations and agreements reached by the Directors General were thoroughly discussed, focusing on strengthening cooperation, enhancing institutional collaboration, and unifying efforts to address climate change.
Following comprehensive discussions and consultations, the ministers officially endorsed all the agreed points from the Directors General’s meeting, emphasizing the importance of implementing these decisions in line with the national environmental and climate change strategy.
