Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Presents Its 2022–2025 Performance Report

The Federal Government of Somalia’s Ministry of Environment and Climate Change has presented its performance report for the years 2022–2025, showcasing its ongoing efforts to enhance environmental protection and address the challenges of climate change.

The ceremony to present the report was held in Mogadishu and attended by the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, the Prime Minister, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, and the Deputy Prime Minister, H.E. Salah Jama.

The State Minister of Environment and Climate Change, H.E. Ahmed Omar Mohamed, accompanied by the Director General of the Ministry, H.E. Abdirisak Ahmed Ali, delivered an overview of the ministry’s achievements since its establishment.

Key Highlights of the Report

  • Advancing Environmental Protection: Implementation of campaigns and regulations to curb deforestation and safeguard natural resources.

  • Combating Climate Change: Development of national policies and strategies to address the impacts of droughts, floods, and land degradation.

  • Major Achievements: Implementation of tree-planting projects, promotion of clean energy initiatives, and partnerships with international organizations.

Future Outlook

The Ministry emphasized that the 2022–2025 plan forms the foundation of a long-term strategy aimed at achieving a greener, climate-resilient Somalia, with communities living sustainably in a clean environment.

National leaders commended the progress and achievements presented, encouraging the Ministry to double its efforts toward building a greener future that ensures sustainable livelihoods for future generations.
