Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Holds Key Meeting on Somalia’s National Agenda for COP30
The Director General of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, Mr. Abdirisak Ahmed Ali, chaired an important meeting attended by senior officials from the Ministry and representatives of United Nations agencies, to discuss and review Somalia’s National Agenda for COP30.
The meeting, held at the Ministry’s headquarters, aimed to exchange ideas and consult on Somalia’s key priorities to be presented at the upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), scheduled to take place in Belém, Brazil, from November 10–21, 2025.
During the session, participants discussed how Somalia could present a unified and well-structured position that reflects the country’s priorities on climate adaptation and mitigation, taking into account the national environmental challenges.
The Director General, Mr. Abdirisak Ahmed Ali, expressed his appreciation to the United Nations agencies and other development partners for their continued support to the Government of Somalia, particularly in advancing climate policy development and environmental protection.
He emphasized that the importance of this meeting lies in ensuring that Somalia approaches COP30 with a coordinated and clear national agenda, allowing the country’s voice to be effectively represented at the global climate platform.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to finalize Somalia’s National COP30 Agenda and to strengthen collaboration and preparation efforts ahead of the conference.
