Somalia’s Minister of Environment and Climate Change Visits the Somali Embassy in Switzerland During Official Trip to Geneva
Geneva, Switzerland – Somalia’s Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Major General Bashir Mohamed Jama, who is currently on an official working visit to Geneva, paid a courtesy call to the Somali Embassy in Switzerland. The Minister was warmly welcomed by Ambassador Khadra Duale, Somalia’s Ambassador to Switzerland and the country’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva.
This visit reflects the strong cooperation between the two sides, particularly in advancing Somalia’s priorities in the areas of environment and climate change, while also enhancing the country’s role in global environmental affairs.
During his stay in Geneva, Minister Bashir Mohamed Jama is participating in the fifth session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC-5), an important global platform for shaping major agreements aimed at addressing environmental challenges.
Somalia’s active role in this forum ensures that the nation’s priorities and needs are heard in key international decision-making processes, contributing to the country’s efforts to combat climate change and protect the environment.
