Somalia Unveils NDC 3.0 and Climate Action Plans at Africa Climate Summit
Addis Ababa, 9 September 2025 – The Federal Republic of Somalia’s Minister of Environment and Climate Change, General Bashir Mohamed Jama, today addressed an important forum held during the Second Africa Climate Summit (ACS2). The session, organized by the NDC Partnership, was convened under the theme: “Africa’s Solutions for Enhancing Climate Ambition and Strengthening Economic Resilience.”
Somalia Submits NDC 3.0
The Minister announced that Somalia has formally submitted its NDC 3.0, which outlines comprehensive national plans focusing on:
Renewable energy
Agriculture and livestock
Water management
Resilient livelihood infrastructure
This submission reflects Somalia’s commitment to building a sustainable and green future.
Investment and Private Sector Engagement
Minister Bashir Mohamed Jama stressed that international support should not be limited to small, short-term projects, but must involve large-scale, impactful financing. He also urged the private sector to play an active role in advancing Somalia’s and Africa’s green future.
