Director General of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of the FGS Concludes the Consultative Meeting on the Country Climate and Development Report (CCDR)

Nairobi, Kenya – The Director General of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Abdirisak Ahmed Ali, officially concluded the consultative meeting on the Country Climate and Development Report (CCDR), which was held over two days.

This important meeting, held in Nairobi, brought together Ms. Kristina Svensson, Somalia Country Manager at the World Bank, members of the Federal Government of Somalia who are part of the government core team, the World Bank technical team, and international partners working on environmental and climate change issues.

The CCDR is one of the most strategic documents underpinning the alignment between the country’s development goals and efforts to mitigate the impacts of climate change. It is based on in-depth research, reliable data, and comprehensive analysis.

Mr. Abdirisak Ahmed Ali emphasized that the Ministry is committed to transforming this important report into practical action and tangible progress that will be felt across all regions of the country, helping the Somali people build resilience and access sustainable economic opportunities.

Meanwhile, the World Bank and other development partners reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the Government of Somalia to ensure that the CCDR becomes a guiding tool for planning and implementing environmental projects, protecting natural resources, and adapting to climate change.

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change urged all stakeholders to work closely together to translate the outcomes of the report into effective measures that will lead communities and the environment towards a sustainable future.
