Somalia Supports Turkey’s Bid to Host the 31st UN Climate Change Conference (COP31)
Ankara, December 4, 2024: The Minister of Environment and Climate Change of the Federal Government of Somalia, Amb. Khadiija Mohamed Al-makhzoumi, held a meeting with her Turkish counterpart, the Minister of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change of Turkey, Mr. Murat Kurum.
The meeting focused on strengthening the collaboration between the two ministries, enhancing the global partnership between Somalia and Turkey, and advancing the climate agenda.
Both ministers particularly discussed how Somalia could support Turkey’s bid to host the upcoming 31st session of the Conference of the Parties (COP31). Minister Khadiija pledged that Somalia would assist Turkey in its efforts to host the conference, and she confirmed that Somalia would fully support Turkey’s bid with its vote.
This meeting highlights Somalia’s commitment to fostering international cooperation and advancing the global climate agenda, with a focus on supporting sustainable solutions and promoting global partnerships.
