Somalia and Turkey Strengthen Green Cooperation to Advance Zero Waste and Sustainable Urban Development

The Minister of Environment and Climate Change of the Federal Republic of Somalia, General Bashir Mohamed Jama, held a fruitful meeting with Mr. Samed Ağırbaş, President of the Zero Waste Forum in Turkey. The discussion focused on strengthening cooperation between the two countries in environmental programs and waste management initiatives.
In his remarks, the Minister emphasized the importance of enhancing collaboration on the Zero Waste program, particularly in raising public awareness, building the capacity of environmental institutions, and developing sustainable systems for urban waste management.
Mr. Samed Ağırbaş highly commended the efforts of the Federal Government of Somalia in environmental protection and the promotion of clean cities. He underlined the importance of cooperation in waste reduction and elimination, expressing the Zero Waste Forum’s commitment to supporting Somalia in implementing sustainable programs that address waste disposal, recycling, and community awareness.
The meeting was attended by the Somali Ambassador to Turkey, Mr. Fathudin Ali Mohamed, along with a delegation led by the Minister of Environment and Climate Change of Somalia.
The meeting concluded with a mutual understanding to accelerate green cooperation between Somalia and Turkey in order to establish clean cities and promote environmental safety and sustainable development.
