Second Interministerial Technical Committee (IMTC)

Today 26th May 2024, the Second Inter-ministerial Technical Committee (IMTC) meeting was held at Jazeera Palace, Mogadishu, Somalia. IMTC brings together various line ministries. Establishing strong coordination mechanisms, institutional arrangements, and capacities for coordinating GCF activities in the country is paramount for the country. Climate change is a cross-cutting issue and a such requires cross-sectoral coordination and collaboration. The overall goal of the IMTC is to facilitate inter-sectoral and inter-ministerial guidance for GCF and to guide the National Designated Authority (NDA) operations in overseeing readiness support activities and climate adaptation actions in Somalia.
In today’s meeting, the members of the IMTC were updated on the progress of the GCF Readiness Support project and the National Adaptation Plan (NAP). The members provided inputs and guidance on the various activities that are being implemented under the two projects.
The IMTC will continue to serve as an effective coordination and governance mechanism that will guide and support the NDA in fulfilling its roles and responsibilities related to GCF activities in the country.
