Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Launches Training Program to Enhance Climate Change Adaptation Efforts

Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of Somalia, under the leadership of Director-General Ahmed Yusuf Ahmed, launched an essential training program aimed at equipping 35 of its staff members with advanced knowledge and skills in environmental and climate change issues.

The specialized training program, set to run over the course of five days, is designed to bolster the competencies of the ministry’s workforce in tackling and understanding the critical challenges posed by climate change. This initiative not only reflects the ministry’s commitment to fostering a knowledgeable team but also underscores the importance of proactive measures in the face of global environmental changes.

The collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in this training underscores the partnership’s dedication to implementing sustainable and impactful climate change adaptation strategies. This partnership aims to enhance the resilience of Somalia’s environment and communities against the adverse effects of climate change.

Through this program, participants will engage in comprehensive sessions covering a wide range of topics, including but not limited to climate change mitigation strategies, sustainable environmental practices, and the application of international environmental frameworks and policies at the national level.

This training is a key component of the broader climate change adaptation project, reflecting a shared vision between the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change and UNDP. The project aims to develop capacities, foster environmental stewardship, and promote sustainable development practices that will pave the way for a greener, more resilient Somalia.
