Ministerial Handover Ceremony Highlights Leadership Transition and Future Commitments

HANDOVER CEREMONY FOR MINISTERIAL ROLES
Mogadishu, January 5, 2025 – A grand handover ceremony was held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS). The event marked the official transfer of responsibilities between the newly appointed Minister of Environment and Climate Change, General Bashir Mohamed Jama, and the outgoing Minister, Amb. Khadija Mohamed Al-Makhzoumi, who has taken on her new role as Minister of Family Affairs and Human Rights.

Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, His Excellency Hamza Abdi Barre, officiated the handover between the two ministries. The ceremony was attended by members of the Council of Ministers, the Governor of Banadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu, Members of Parliament, Director Generals, staff from both ministries, and other distinguished guests.

During the event, achievements made under the leadership of Amb. Khadija at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change were highlighted. The new Minister, General Bashir, pledged to enhance efforts in environmental development and tackling climate change challenges
