Minister of Environment and Climate Change Commends Green Initiatives During Official Visit to Ministry of Defense

The Minister of Environment and Climate Change of the Federal Government of Somalia, Major General Bashir Mohamed Jama, paid an official visit to the headquarters of the Ministry of Defence, where he was warmly received by the Minister of Defence, H.E. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, alongside the leadership of the Somali National Army (SNA).
During the visit, Minister Bashir commended the Ministry of Defence and the SNA Command for their well-organized management of a green and environmentally friendly compound. He emphasized that both the Ministry and the Somali National Army are close partners in promoting environmental sustainability, noting that an eco-friendly environment is essential for intellectuals and strategists engaged in military planning and national defence.
The Minister highlighted that a green and healthy environment supports clear thinking and innovation, which are vital for strengthening the reconstruction of the Somali National Army and advancing efforts to combat extremist groups.
For his part, Minister of Defence Ahmed Moallim Fiqi expressed his appreciation for the visit and the strong cooperation between the two ministries. He underlined the importance of further strengthening collaboration to achieve shared goals in national security and the development of a sustainable green environment.
The visit reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to integrating environmental protection with national security strategies, recognizing that sustainable development and peace go hand in hand.
