The Inception Workshop for the Integrated Drought and Flood Management project was held in Mogadishu, the project will focus on Shabelle river and beyond

This project aims to address the pressing environmental challenges faced by communities in Somalia, particularly in the Shabelle Region, where both droughts and floods pose significant risks to livelihoods and infrastructure.

The Concept Note will outline a strategic approach to building community resilience through integrated management practices. It will emphasize the importance of community engagement, participatory decision-making, and local capacity building to effectively address the complex nature of drought and flood risks. Additionally, the Concept Note will highlight the need for collaborative efforts among various stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, academic institutions, and community-based organizations, to ensure the project’s success. By fostering partnerships and leveraging existing resources, the project seeks to maximize its impact and sustainability.

The Inception Workshop was provided an opportunity for stakeholders to come together, share insights, and contribute to the development of a robust and actionable Concept Note that will guide the implementation of the project in the Shabelle Region.
