“Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Environment Conclude Banbax Conference in Mogadishu, Address Key Climate and Environmental Issues”

MOGADISHU, FEBRUARY 13, 2025:
The Deputy Prime Minister of the country, accompanied by the Minister of the Ministry of Environment, has concluded the exhibition Conference held at the Ministry in Mogadishu.
The exhibition Conference, which has been taking place for the past two days in Mogadishu, has now concluded. It was attended by senior leadership from the Ministry, the Director General, Department Heads, Advisors, Unit Leaders, and various staff members.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss several key issues, including accelerating operations, strengthening inter-departmental relationships, the national strategy for environmental sustainability set by the Ministry, the work plan for 2025, the implementation of Somalia’s Green Initiative, and addressing the aspirations of the Nugal community. The discussions also covered topics such as climate adaptation, resilience, and addressing climate change challenges.
Additionally, environmental management, waste prevention, deforestation, and other critical issues for the country and the Somali people were discussed during the conference.
The Minister of Environment and Climate Change of the Government of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Bashir Mohamed Jamac, concluded the conference by stating that the Ministry is committed to implementing these key issues.
On the other hand, the Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Abdisalan Abdi Ali, praised the effective efforts of the Ministry of Environment and emphasized that the country is facing challenges caused by climate change, which have negatively affected various sectors of society and caused harm to many people.
“I am confident in the leadership of Minister Bashir and the staff of the Ministry. We must focus on implementing and planning for climate change mitigation and adaptation measures,” he said.
Finally, the Ministry’s leadership and staff pledged to focus on the implementation of the agendas that emerged from the two-day conference in the capital.
