Dr. Siciid Maxamed Cali, the Deputy Minister of Environment and Climate Change, inaugurated a pivotal meeting addressing deforestation and its adverse effects on Somali communities. Held at the Somalia Pavilion during UNCCD #COP16Riyadh, the event highlighted sustainable solutions to tackle deforestation, including the introduction of environmentally friendly charcoal made from waste materials.
SAMA Bio Fuel, a company specializing in eco-friendly charcoal, presented a detailed report showcasing innovative methods to combat deforestation and promote environmental sustainability.
The meeting brought together a diverse group of participants, including directors from the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, officials from federal member state ministries, and distinguished guests. Representatives from governments and organizations with vested interests in Somali environmental issues also attended, emphasizing the collaborative effort required to address environmental challenges and ensure long-term solutions for conserving Somalia’s natural resources.
