Minister Bashir Mohamed Jama Visits SoDMA to Strengthen Collaboration on Disaster Management

The Minister of Environment and Climate Change of the Dan-Qaran Government, General Bashir Mohamed Jama, accompanied by the Director General of the Ministry, Mr. Yusuf Samatar, visited the headquarters of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) today. The delegation was warmly received by SoDMA Chairman, Mr. Mahamuud Moallim Abdulle.

During the visit, Minister Bashir received a detailed briefing on the operations of the National Early Warning Center, which monitors and issues alerts on potential natural hazards. The SoDMA team, led by Chairman Abdulle, also provided insights into the early stages of drought currently affecting multiple regions of Somalia, along with projections based on recent forecasts.

Both parties emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration and enhancing joint efforts in addressing disaster management challenges. Minister Bashir assured his commitment to fostering close cooperation with SoDMA and other federal agencies to accelerate national initiatives aimed at protecting and supporting the Somali population.
