Somalia Highlights Climate Change Adaptation Strategies at COP 16 High-Level Event

As the 16th session of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (COP 16) progresses, the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change delivered a significant address during a high-level side event. The meeting focused on land management and environmental sustainability, with particular attention given to national adaptation plans for climate change.
In his remarks, Dr. Saciid highlighted the intricate linkages between the Climate, Land, and Biodiversity Conventions, collectively known as the Rio Conventions. He emphasized the importance of integrated approaches to addressing the intertwined challenges of climate change, land degradation, and biodiversity loss.
The Deputy Minister, alongside technical experts from the Ministry, engaged in discussions by answering critical questions about Somalia’s journey in developing its climate change adaptation plan.
