Somalia Inaugurates Its Pavilion at COP16 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

The Minister of Environment and Climate Change of the Federal Government of Somalia, Amb. Khadija Mohamed Almakhzoumi, alongside Deputy Minister Dr. Said Mohamed Ali, members of the Federal Parliament, and ministry officials, officially inaugurated the Somali Pavilion at the 16th International Conference on Desertification and Drought (COP16), held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The Somali Pavilion provides a prominent platform for showcasing Somalia’s ongoing efforts to combat the impacts of climate change, with a specific focus on desertification, drought management, and sustainable environmental solutions. It highlights Somalia’s commitment to addressing pressing climate challenges and reinforces the importance of international collaboration in finding practical solutions to these global issues.

In her remarks, Minister Khadija emphasized Somalia’s determination to work with the international community to address environmental and climate crises. This inauguration not only marks a milestone in Somalia’s active participation in global climate dialogues but also underscores the country’s dedication to forging partnerships aimed at achieving long-term, sustainable environmental solutions.
