Minister Al-Makhzoumi Meets COP29 Head to Advance Climate Collaboration and Justice

Minister Amb. Khadija Mohamed Al-Makhzoumi held a significant meeting today with Ambassador Iskandanov, the Head of COP29, to discuss critical pathways for achieving success in the ongoing climate negotiations. Both leaders emphasized their unwavering commitment to strengthening collaboration and ensuring that the outcomes of COP29 lead to meaningful agreements that benefit vulnerable communities affected by climate change.
The discussions revolved around pressing priorities, including the New Collective Quantified Goal (NCQG), justice-based climate transitions, and other key agenda items aimed at fostering sustainable development. The Minister highlighted the importance of inclusive and equitable solutions to address global environmental challenges.
Furthermore, Minister Al-Makhzoumi extended her gratitude to Azerbaijan for its warm hospitality and exemplary organization of the #COP29 summit. She commended Azerbaijan’s dedication to providing a platform for constructive dialogue and collective action on global climate priorities, reiterating Somalia’s commitment to playing an active role in these efforts.
