Somalia and WMO Collaborate to Strengthen Climate Resilience

Strengthening Somalia’s Climate Resilience Meeting with the WMO
Baku, Azerbaijan, 13th November: The Minister of Environment and Climate Change, H.E. Khadija Mohamed Al-Makhzoumi, held an important meeting with the Secretary-General of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) to reinforce Somalia’s climate resilience.
The agenda of this meeting focused on advancing the formal establishment of the Somali National Meteorological Agency (SNMA), technical support and WMO operations, and the development of early warning systems to help communities anticipate and mitigate the impacts of adverse weather conditions.
“We are committed to building a national framework that aligns with international standards, serving as the backbone for sustainable development in the country,” stated the Minister.
