Minister of Environment and Climate Change Chairs Closing Session of Somalia’s National Adaptation Plan Project

The Minister of Environment and Climate Change of the Federal Government of Somalia, Amb. Khadija Mohamed Al-Makhzoumi, chaired the final meeting for closing the Somalia National Adaptation Plan (NAP) Project. The meeting was co-led by the Minister and the UNDP Deputy Representative, with participants from the Ministry, UNDP, and ministers from the federal states of Jubaland, Galmudug, Hirshabelle, and South West State.
During the meeting, the Committee reviewed the project’s achievements and the NAP document, which was approved following extensive discussions and evaluations. It was agreed to jointly seek $2.4 billion for implementing the NAP, which Somalia plans to present at the COP29 conference to be held in Baku, Azerbaijan.
