The State Minister of Environment and Climate Change

The State Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Mr. Ahmed Chmar Mohamed, inaugurated the *Climate Change Symposium 2024*, organized by the Climate and Environment Institute of Simad University. In his opening speech, the Minister discussed climate change and emphasized the importance of taking effective actions.

Additionally, the Director General of the Ministry, Mr. Yusuf Abdirahman Samatar, delivered a speech in which he highlighted the Ministry’s efforts related to climate change and Somalia’s commitment to taking a leadership role in environmental protection. The Director General stressed the importance of both local and international cooperation to achieve climate goals.

The Ministry also provided an overview of the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC), outlining priority goals to reduce the negative impacts of climate change.
